Disable ‘Search the
Web Prompt’
A lot times
in Windows7/XP when you try to open a file that Windows does not recognize, it
will prompt you to search the Internet to find relevant application that is
able to recognize & open the file.
Invariably, even after using the online search feature, windows will not be able to recognize the file you were trying to open.
Overall, nobody ever really uses this feature & even when it is occasionally used by some users, it does not give useful results.
It is
possible to disable this feature:
1)Open Windows Registry.
1)Open Windows Registry.
2)Browse to
the following key:
[ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer ]
[ HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer ]
3)In the
right pane, create a new DWORD value called “NoInternetOpenWith” & change
its value from to “1” to disable the Search Internet option & “0” to enable
it.
Now you will directly get open with {program list} option ! :)
